Bombay Sapphire Gin & GQ Magazine Party
NEXT NIGHTCLUB, SCOTTSDALE, AZ
AUGUST 8TH, 2003

NEXT Nightclub, arguably Scottsdale's sexiest upscale venue, played host to a promotional party that brought the beautiful people of the valley's nightlife scene out of the woodwork.  Even the decor of the club exudes sexuality, showcasing the glamourous (and sometimes erotic) photography of owner Eric Crown.  The night's  festivities were hosted by Bombay Sapphire, the top-shelf dry Gin, and GQ, the sophisticated men's fashion magazine.  Featured were 1-cent Bombay gin drinks (I highly recommend the Apple-tini) and Bombay Sapphire mint tins distributed by the Bombay girls.  Each tin had the Bombay logo silk-screened on top and boy were the mints super potent.

My involvement in the event was brought about by my association with Aron Mezo with Professional Events.  I had previously worked with Aron for the Razor Magazine and Cutty Black promotions.  Kirsten Fischer of Bacardi USA contacted Aron in search of a bodypainter for this Bombay Party.  Fortunately Aron sent her my way (thanks Aron!).

Bacardi was very selective in choosing a model for this project and were successful in securing professional model/actress Rebecca Swann, who's credits include appearances in swimsuit calendars for Swimsuit Illustrated and Kiss Wear's Bikini Team.  Rebecca has also done numerous fitness modeling print work and promotional work with Professional Events.

The plan was to paint the logo from the bottle of Bombay on Rebecca and I had initially envisioned her wearing a loose satin wrap for minimal coverage.  Kirsten and Rebecca, however,  opted for the white bikini instead and I think it was a great choice.  Kirsten also requested that I paint a pair of martini olives on Rebecca's butt and I cheerfully obliged.  The painting(s) took approximately an hour and a half to complete and then we did a short 20 minute photoshoot in the dim bar lighting.  Predominantly, the paint used was Totally Tattoo from Badger Airbrush.  I also tried a new product by Kryolan (Aqua cream) for the gold paint and it worked out nicely.
