2023's theme for the Phoenix Fan Fusion Bodypainting Extravaganza (PFFBE) was "Animalyze". Four wonderful models painted by four fantastic artists. I designed the flyer above with the models photos and the PFF graphic arts team designed the second flyer and included it in the program and also on the big screens downtown! This year we were again spread out down the runway in the 410-seat ballroom 232-A, B, and C on Saturday night. I believe the room was near capacity most of the evening, but there is quite a bit of turnover for a panel that lasts over two hours. Each year I'm amazed at the creative concepts that the artists come up with once I give them the generic theme to work with. Animalyze produced four radically different concepts including an angler fish, a peacock, butterflies, and a dragon. No cameras were allowed for the first half hour, but once the models had a modest amount of cover, cameras were allowed. So there are quite a few pictures out there that show the progress of each creation. We each had about 2 hours to complete our paintings before the models did their runway walk and then the crowd photoshoot followed by the professional photoshoot. I added a secondary challenge for the artists to include some UV responsive bodypaint on the models this year and the results were so intriguing.
