Culture Of Our Underground
by Mark Greenawalt

This month I was proud to be a part of an "experiment in music, art, and fashion" during the Culture Of Our Underground show at the Nile Theatre in Mesa, Arizona.  This event included an extensive art gallery of photographs, oil paintings, three dimensional pieces, and full motion videos.  The live entertainment included several bands, spoken poetry, live graffiti painting, and hook suspensions by Life Suspended.  My part in the whole extravaganza was doing 2 live body paintings along with two other Phoenix area body painters.  Yuriko (a.k.a. Yulie) Nishimura's body painting technique was to write out full poems in Japanese characters on the models' bodies and the other artist was Jesse Jarrell who uses liquid latex to paint a unique style of curves and jagged designs.

As for my body paintings, rather than describe them in detail, I refer you to my body painting page which can be found from the menu of www.futureclassx.com.  In short, it's the one with the Pyramid on the belly of my lovely (and very patient) model named Meria.  During the evening I also completed another body painting on a model named Suzanne.  This painting was a copy of the spider and web on my web page (pun intended), but none of my photos of this painting were very clear.  I am hoping that her boyfriend, who is a photographer, sends me some of his photos of this painting.

"Allegiance"
by Mark Greenawalt

What if Captain America from Marvel Comics were to meet Wonder Woman from DC comics?  I think they'd make a great couple since they have so much in common.  I had this on my mind while I was getting inspired by the super hero paintings of Julie Bell and Boris Vallejo.  I decided to paint a love scene with Captain America entangled within the arms of Wonder Woman and her golden lasso.  Coming up with a name for this painting brought about many humorous titles such as "Love American Style", "I Did Not Have Sexual Relations With That Woman", "Undercover Heros", and "I'll Show You My Secret Identity If You Show Me Yours".  I finally settled on "Allegiance", short for "I Pledge Allegiance".  If you come up with any funny titles, send them to me for consideration!  Anyway, the picture is on-line in the paintings section of www.futureclassx.com

Happy Anniversary
by Mark Greenawalt

My wife and I celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary on November 28th this year.  As a present to each other we bought a house.  We have been renting our current house since February and we will be moving to the Ahwatukee area of Phoenix at the end of January.  Also for our anniversary we took a little trip to Sin City (a.k.a. Las Vegas).  We stayed at the Sahara and walked all the way to the other end of the strip (4 miles) to Excalibur, where we got married 8 years ago...how romantic!  This is why the Green Pages were late this month.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

More Bullet Items
by Mark Greenawalt

-The December issue of Night Moves magazine will have a short article about me and my body painting artwork from the Alfadon show in October.  Check it out if you get a chance.  I have a few more leads on upcoming bodypainting events including a show in February by Switch Events and also the upcoming annual art exhibit at the Alwun House entitled "2001: An Exotic Oddesy".  I'll keep you posted.

-Each month in the year 2000, Future-Class X Publishing is giving away a free signed and numbered, limited edition art print of my pencil drawing entitled Mill's Barn .  To be placed in the drawing, all you have to do is sign the guestbook and you will be in the next month's drawing.  The winner of this month's drawing is Fiona Bowen from Atlanta, Georgia.  Fiona (or Fi) is a fellow Styx fan and we actually first met at the Styx concert in Atlanta with the Philharmonic Orchestra.  We have crossed paths a few times since then and probably will again soon.  Congrats Fi, I hope you like it!

Type at you next month!!!
