I did a solo gig again this year at the Mesa Book Festival, but I changed it up a little bit this year. I still did nearly all originals, but this year I did them karaoke style with the backing tracks of my original recordings from my studio. I also had two very special guests. I was a proud PopPops when my grandson, Gavin Greenawalt, took the stage with me to perform our song 'Let Your Soul Shine Through'. He just started playing the trumpet a couple of months ago, btw. There are really special moments in life...this was one of them. My other guest singer was Alena Oas (my son Zane's girlfriend) doing covers of 'Love You Like A Love Song' by Selena Gomez and Stop Draggin' My Heart Around by Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks. I posted a couple of clips from the show on my Facebook page. My friends Ed Clapper and Roger Wiedabach also did solo acoustic sets later in the day.
It has been nearly two years since I released a new song to all the streaming services, but the time had finally come to get this song out there. It was written quite a while ago, but I recently was toying with the new AI song generator called Suno and had it do a 'cover' of this song. It was so cool to hear the song fully produced by AI but yet following all of my lyrics, melody, and chord patterns. I could have theoretically released the AI song as is, but I decided that I wanted to take the time and do my own production and play all of the instruments myself. I think this has me back in the musical groove so you might be seeing more of my originals coming out in 2026. Go to your favorite streaming service to find the song and add it to your favorite playlist. Click on the cover image to hear it on YouTube.
Honored to have my article and photos published in LD+A Magazine. Working on these signature projects has been so fulfilling and I appreciate this magazine for shining the spotlight on the lighting design industry.
LD+A Magazine posted this blurb and link to the article: “Reimagining Legacy Resorts” Mark Greenawalt, PE looks at how classic properties such as the Arizona Biltmore and Mountain Shadows are using RGBW coves, architectural grazing, and updated controls to compete with brand-new resorts. Thoughtful exterior and landscape lighting highlights historic architecture, supports energy savings, and refreshes beloved destinations for a new generation of guests.
