Coats of Paint Kickstarter Is Fully Funded
by Mark Greenawalt

It brings me great pleasure to announce that my first ever Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded. Oh, and by the way it is still going strong until February 20th. I just announced the first stretch goal to be a guitar pick with the Gene Simmons bodypainting image printed on it. I had recently contributed to a Lady Death Kickstarter project that came with a printed guitar pick and I thought that was a very cool idea. I have a few more stretch goals in mind, but I haven't announced any yet.

I threw a party to kick off the Kickstarter Campaign and thanks to some of the best friends and family in the world, it was a huge success. I had printed a limited edition 1st printing of the book and sold out all twenty-five numbered and signed copies by the end of the party. The venue was Unexpected Art gallery in downtown Phoenix and we had the video wall scrolling through the images from the book, an awesome food table set up by my sister-in-law Jean Greenawalt, an open bar tended by cover model Megan Brock, and plenty of live music from Joe Vito, Roger Wiedaback, Ed Clapper, and Ryan Tree. Plus the incredible bonus about hosting the event here was that I also had an art gallery showing that was installed by friends Rand Lyons and Dick Kelley. The event was simulcast on Facebook Live and I will be adding that video to my Youtube Channel for posterity soon.

Shootout In A Desert Junkyard
by Mark Greenawalt

There is an annual event that is held at a junkyard in Wittman, Arizona. Photographers, models, and makeup artists are invited to pay a nominal fee of $12 for the opportunity to work with each other in a truly unique location. It was my first time attending and I had no idea what to expect. There ended up being at least one hundred people there. Many in cosplay attire with an emphasis on post-apocolyptic themes and many were scantily clad in glamourous outfits in stark contrast to the rusting cars and stacked tires that stretched on for acres. Here are two shots that I took of models Jami Watts and Heather Renee Nance.

La Muerta Graphic Novel Cover Illustration
by Mark Greenawalt

Maria De La Muerta is a relatively new character creation from the mind of Brian Pulido and Coffin Comics. In 2013 a cast and crew was assembled to film a trailer about this character and I was invited to do the character makeup on actress Brittany Madrid. I later used one of the still photos from that film set to do a digital illustration of the Muerta character. I was thrilled to find out that this illustration was going to be used for limited edtion cover for the graphic novel origin story, "Desent". This edition was limited to 200 copies and was unveiled at Phoenix Comicon 2016 as the "Bang! Bang!" Edition. The comic book is available online at The Lady Death Store .

Congrats To My Boys
by Mark Greenawalt

A shout out to Zane Greenawalt who was the Homecoming King for his senior year at Horizon Honors High School. He's getting ready to go to college and has already received some scholarship opportunities to Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University. I'm anxious to see how that unfolds.

And also a shout out to my son Sage Greenawalt who is now a home owner. He and Savannah bought a house near Dobson Ranch Park in Mesa and they can now begin the nesting for the new baby coming in May. The "working title" for the new baby boy is Wesley and his big brother Gavin is anxious to meet him. This is the third generation of two brothers, by the way, starting with me and my brother Curt, then my boys Sage and Zane, and now we have Gavin and Wesley.

E-ya later,
Mark Greenawalt
