Star Wars Theme at LepreCon 33 - Bodypainted Stormtrooper
by Mark Greenawalt

Bodypaint on Jill Valdisar as a Star Wars Stormtrooper This was my sixth year of involvement with the LepreCon Sci-Fi convention. I typically try to make the theme of my bodypainting demonstration consistent with the theme of the convention and this year it was Star Wars. The author guest of honor was Karen Traviss who has penned several Star Wars novels and the AZ 501st was in full force. For my Friday night panel, I did a bodypainting of stormtrooper armor on model Jill Valdisar. More Star Wars at LepreCon 33 - Self-Portait of a Sith Lord
by Mark Greenawalt

Mark Greenawalt in Darth Sidious prosthetic make-up at LepreCon If you've already gone to the page to see the bodypainted stormtrooper then you've already seen the picture of me as Darth Sidious. I have been delving into the world of prosthetic make-up and I was looking for the foam latex face of Palpatine from Star Wars. Nick Wolfe of Wolfe Brothers FX and bodypaints sculpted this mask and I think he did a fantastic job. All I had to do was slap on some paint, put in the contacts, paint my teeth, and of course put on the evil robe. For more pics and a slightly extended story click the picture above or go to http://www.futureclassx.com/bodypaint/jillvaldisar/stormtrooper/leprecon33.htm .

Engineered Stone Article for Contact Magazine
by Mark Greenawalt

Engineered stone article for Contact magazine Now and then I like to take the opportunity to write. I've written song lyrics, short film scripts, webpages, these newsletters, and I've made a dent in a book on bodypainting and also a science fiction novel. More commonly I've written articles for magazines. The latest is an article written for Contact Magazine about the beauty and advantages of quartz surfacing. It is an engineered stone for kitchen counter tops and countless other bathroom, bar, and fireplace designs. Click on the picture above or go to http://www.futureclassx.com/words/2007/quartz/quartz.htm to read the story. For a listing of other things that I have written, go to the "words" link on my bio page at http://www.futureclassx.com/words/words.htm .

2008 Bodypainting Calendar
by Mark Greenawalt

2008 Bodypainting by Mark Greenawalt Calendar The 2008 Wall Calendar of Bodypainting by Mark Greenawalt is now available. Ironically it wasn't out in May as this newsletter would imply, but this newsletter didn't come out until November and it's out "now". May was a strange month and this was the time that I had a bad computer crash that took me down in flames. I recovered most of the stuff but I lost any e-mails that you may have sent me at that time. I am now on a new computer with Windows Vista. I like some things about Vista, but there have been a few things that drive me nuts too. May was also the month when I made the decision to switch from my Pentax digital camera to a Canon D5 digital camera. I have been very happy with the pictures that I've been taking with it. The stormtrooper pictures and the Darth Sidious pictures above were shot with this camera. Several of the other pictures that made it into my 2008 Bodypainting Calendar were also shot with this camera. You may not have seen some of the calendar shots before since they take place in the future (in reference to this May newsletter). Consider them a glance into the upcoming Green Pages. At this point, I am only selling the wall calendar and probably won't be making the desktop calendars this year. To see the rest of the 2008 calendar and for ordering information, go to http://www.futureclassx.com/bodypaint/calendar/2008/2008calendar.htm .
